Dear Scholarship Applicant:
The Orland Township Scholarship Foundation is committed to recognizing and honoring Township youth displaying exceptional levels of performance in academics, leadership and community service.
Applications for 2017 scholarships are now available at the Orland Township office, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., or online at www.orlandtownship.org. Local high school guidance offices also are offering the applications. Completed applications are due by Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, and may be submitted in person at the Township office or by fax at (708) 403-4260.
Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady, the President of the Scholarship Foundation, and the Township Board of Directors will approve 22 scholarships totaling $16,500 this year: one $2,000 scholarship, eight $1,000 scholarships, and 13 $500 scholarships.
Scholarships for graduating high school seniors are awarded based on leadership skills, commitment to community service, academic history, extracurricular activities, recommendations, essay writing, and any additional relevant accomplishments. Applications are reviewed by a selection committee.
Separately, applications for the Township Officials of Illinois (TOI) Scholarship are now available. This year, TOI will award seven $1,500 scholarships. Much like the Orland Township application, the eligibility criteria and application procedures are clearly stated within the application. The deadline for this application and all required documentation is Wednesday, March 1, 2017.
