Attention, High School Seniors!
******Applications for 2018 Awards from the Orland Township Scholarship Foundation Will Soon Be Available
The Orland Township Scholarship Foundation will award 22 scholarships totaling $16,500 – one for $2,000, eight for $1,000, and 13 for $500 – to Orland Township high school students graduating in 2018.
“These students are implementing the credo of the Scholarship Foundation and are giving back to the community in a significant way,” said Paul O’Grady, Orland Township Supervisor and President of the Scholarship Foundation. “It is our hope that the scholarship program will express Orland Township’s appreciation, as well as motivate these future leaders to continue to give back to their communities.”
Antonio Rubino, Orland Township Trustee and Fundraising Chairman, agreed: “Daily effort on the part of these young people has led them to their positions of community and academic leadership. We think it’s important to recognize that.”
Applications will be available Jan. 22 at the Orland Township office, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., or through guidance counselors’ offices at area high schools. Applications may also be downloaded from the Township website at orlandtownship.org. Applications must be returned to the Township office or postmarked by March 9.
The Scholarship Foundation will select finalists after reviewing each application. It will then award scholarships based on a review of the applicant’s leadership skills, commitment to community service, academic focus, extracurricular activities, recommendations from school representatives, volunteer supervisors or employers, and an essay, along with other pertinent information that is included with the application.
Students faced with financial hardship will be given strong consideration.
