Do you love taking your dog everywhere with you? Are you thinking about adding a furry companion to your family? Do you have the cutest or most talented pup around and like to show them off? Then Orland Township has an event for you — join Supervisor Paul O’Grady at Pet-Palooza.
Residents and their pets are invited to a family friendly, fun-filled afternoon of activities, events and information all centered around their pets.
Joining Pet-Palooza this year will be special guests:
Meteorologist Andy Avalos from NBC Chicago
Morning show host Kevin Kollins from Star 96.7.
Pet-Palooza will feature more than 50 local vendors, ranging from pet boutiques and animal hospitals to rescue organizations and local restaurants offering free samples of their cuisine. Some of the vendors scheduled to attend include:

A nearly block-long Kids Zone will include several inflatable bounce houses, train rides, games and prizes. And while at Pet-Palooza, kids will have the opportunity to meet some of their favorite princesses, superheroes and members of the Paw Patrol!
New this year are the Pet-Palooza Main Stage Talks, which will feature several short question and answer sessions with some of Pet-Palooza’s vendors. Kevin Kollins from Star 96.7 will emcee segments with vendors who will answer audience questions and share their expertise. Scheduled topics include “Ask the Vet,” “Floors & Fido,” and “Scales and Shells.” Andy Avalos will also answer weather questions in the segment, “Ask Andy.”
Main Stage Talks will begin at 12:15 p.m. and run until 2 p.m. with a new topic and expert introduced every 15 minutes. Click here for the event schedule, which will also be posted at Pet-Palooza.
At 2 p.m., the ever-popular pet contests, hosted by NBC’s Andy Avalos, will take place. Categories include:
- Best Trick
- Best Voice
- Best Dressed
- Treat Toss
Participants can sign up for as many contests as they want on-site, the day of the event.
Admission to Pet-Palooza is free, however a donation of a 5-pound bag of pet food or a cash donation to the Orland Township Pet Pantry is encouraged and greatly appreciated.
Owners are reminded that well-behaved pets are welcome and encouraged to attend. All pets must:
- Have up-to-date vaccinations
- Wear proper tags
- Be on a leash no longer than six feet
Rest areas for pets that are shaded and have water bowls and small pools will be set up on-site. Doggie-doo-doo bags will also be available throughout Pet-Palooza for owners to clean up any ‘accidents’ that occur.
All proceeds from Pet-Palooza will benefit the Orland Township Pet Pantry, “Crashy’s Closet,” which was founded by Supervisor O’Grady and his wife, and named for a beloved O’Grady family feline rescue. For more information on Pet-Palooza call the Township office at (708) 403-4222.
