Orland Township Senior Health Fair Kicks Off Month-Long Celebration of Older Americans Month

 

Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady invites area seniors to visit the Township Office during May to take part in the month-long celebration of Older Americans Month.

Specially themed drop-in days and free fitness classes are just a few of the events that will encourage seniors to “Engage at Every Age,” the 2018 theme of Older Americans Month.

The Township will kick of Older Americans Month with a Senior Health Fair on Tuesday, May 1, 2018, from 9 a.m. and noon at the Township Office, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park.

The health fair is free and some of the featured services included:

  • FREE Blood Pressure Checks
  • FREE Cholesterol Tests (must make appointment)
  • FREE Blood Glucose Test (requires 2 hr. fasting)
  • FREE Hearing Screenings
  • Discounted Adult Vaccines (must make appointment)
  • Massages
  • Medicare Counseling
  • Orland Fire & Home Safety
  • Podiatry Screening (sign up at Health Fair)
  • Cook County Sheriff’s Office and Senior Services

Local vendors will be on site with light snacks and other various giveaways. Those scheduled to attend include:

  • Cheesecake Factory
  • Christopher John Florist
  • Giordano’s
  • Granite City
  • Longhorn Steakhouse
  • Lume’s
  • Miroballi’s
  • Nothing Bundt Cake
  • Olive Garden

The Carl Sandburg High School Orchestra will also be in attendance to provide entertainment.

“Today’s seniors are active adults who keep busy by participating in a variety of activities,” said Supervisor O’Grady. “Orland Township is proud to host many programs that keep our seniors active and engaged.”
