Orland Township Touchdown!

(Orland Township, IL – Feb. 4, 2020) — Soup lovers from Orland Township and beyond recently spent a Saturday afternoon sampling a variety of soups and then voting for their favorites, according to the office of Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady.

Nearly 200 residents took on the challenge of pacing themselves through 16 different soups. The soups were divided into four categories, or quarters, for the competition. After sampling all the soups in a quarter, residents were asked to vote for their favorite and then move to the next quarter and repeat.

“The Souper Bowl Challenge is becoming one of our most popular community events,” said Supervisor O’Grady. “I want to thank everyone who participated, from our cooks to our tasters to our judges – everyone contributed to the success of the event.”

Contestants in each quarter had the opportunity to win three different awards:

  • The People’s Choice Award, which was decided by votes from attending residents.
  • The Best Decorated Station, which was decided by the Souper Bowl Judging Panel.
  • The Golden Ladle, also decided by the Souper Bowl Judging Panel.
