Orland Township invites local seniors to take part in the month-long celebration of Older Americans Month.

Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month (OAM). The 2023 theme is Aging Unbound, which offers an opportunity to explore diverse aging experiences and discuss how communities can combat stereotypes. Join us in promoting flexible thinking about aging – and how we all benefit when older adults remain engaged, independent, and included.

Orland Township will host a FREE Senior Health Fair on Wednesday, May 31, from 9 a.m. until noon at Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park. Several local organizations will be on site with giveaways, raffle prizes and senior related information. Several free health services will also be available, including basic cholesterol testing, total lipid profile testing, blood pressure screenings, and hearing screenings (appointment required). “We look forward to the annual celebration of older adults in our community throughout the entire month of May!” said Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady. “Since part of this year’s Older Americans Month is about the opportunity to explore diverse aging experiences, we’re excited to offer plenty of activities for our crowd to engage in.” Older Americans can look forward to specially themed drop-in days, a health fair, luncheons, and dinner dances to continue the celebrations.
