The Orland Township
Every spring, the Orland Township Scholarship Foundation awards a number of local high school seniors with financial scholarships as they move forward towards their college careers. Scholarship recipients are chosen based on a combination of the applicant’s leadership skills, dedication to community service, academic focus, participation in extracurricular activities, recommendations from school representatives, references from volunteer supervisors or employers, an assigned essay question response and any other pertinent information requested within the application. Students faced with hardships will be given strong consideration.
Select eligibility requirements include the following: applicants must reside within the boundaries of Orland Township, applicants must be graduating high school seniors and award winners must enroll as full-time students at a college, university, trade or vocational school. Additional criteria may be obtained within the application.
Applications become available in January with a submission deadline in March. Scholarships are awarded and presented at a dinner usually held in April or May.
