Orland Township invites local seniors to take part in the month-long celebration of Older Americans Month.
Every May, the Administration for Community Living leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month (OAM). The 2025 theme is Flip the Script on Aging, focuses on transforming how society perceives, talks about, and approaches aging. It encourages individuals and communities to challenge stereotypes and dispel misconceptions. This year, join us in honoring older adults’ contributions, exploring the many opportunities for staying active and engaged as we age, and highlighting the opportunities for purpose, exploration, and connection that come with aging.
Highlighted Event: Senior Health Fair
Orland Township will host a FREE Senior Health Fair on Tuesday, May 27, from 9 a.m. until noon at Orland Township, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave., Orland Park. Several local organizations will be on site with giveaways, raffle prizes and senior related information. Several free health services will also be available, including basic cholesterol testing, total lipid profile testing, blood pressure screenings, and hearing screenings. “We look forward to the annual celebration of older adults in our community throughout the entire month of May!” said Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady. “Since part of this year’s Older Americans Month is about the opportunity to explore diverse aging experiences, we’re excited to offer plenty of activities for our crowd to engage in.” Older Americans can look forward to specially themed drop-in days, a health fair, luncheons, and dinner dances to continue the celebrations.

- Mother’s Day Celebration
Ladies, prepare to be treated like a queen for the day because the Orland Township Drop-In Center is celebrating Mother’s Day this week!
Stop by for a tasty snack from Winston’s, followed by Bingo.
(Dads can join in the fun, too.)

- CINCO DE MAYO Celebration
Plan on attending a Mexican fiesta as Orland Township excitedly celebrates Cinco de Mayo at the Drop-In Center. Mexican fare, including Pepe’s tacos and salsa, will be served.

- Armed Forces Celebration
Join us in honoring all of our current and former American heroes! Classic American fare will be served as we hear from local veterans. We’ll have bingo and cards and plenty of socializing!

- Hawaiian Luau Celebration
Kick off your day island-style at our Hawaiian Luau, where sunshine meets tropical fun! Come dressed in your favorite aloha attire and enjoy bingo and a snack.
It’s the perfect way to bring a little paradise to your day!

K9 Unit to share some information on the Wandering Aversion,
