Home Donate to the Food Pantry

To continue assisting families in our community, the Food Pantry accepts donations of canned vegetables, soups, fruits and tuna, as well as macaroni and cheese, spaghetti sauce, peanut butter and jelly, and toilet paper. All donations are appreciated and may be dropped off at the Food Pantry during its hours of operation, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please click here to view a suggested item donation list.

The Food Pantry participates in several annual events and is the grateful recipient of proceeds from other events, all of which contribute to its mission to provide food for families in need. These events include:

Orland Township’s Annual Soup-er Bowl Challenge – this fun annual competition allows residents to showcase their special soup recipes in a soup cook-off with other residents and local restaurants. Complete with raffles, celebrity judges and the Golden Ladle Trophy for the winners, this popular event has become a community favorite!

Annual Greater Chicago Food Depository’s Hunger Walk – residents can join Team Orland Township Food Pantry for this scenic 2-mile walk along Chicago’s lakefront. The Township provides bus transportation, leaving from the Township office, to the walk site and back. Team Orland Township Food Pantry receives a monetary donation from the Greater Chicago Food Depository for each pre-registered team member.

National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive – every year, on the second Saturday in May, letter carriers across the country collect bags of non-perishable food items left next to residential mailboxes by generous community members. Letter carriers in Orland Park bring those donations to Orland Township, which are then unloaded from the mail trucks, sorted and shelved by an army of volunteers, to be distributed to local families in need.

Southwest Community Concert Band – this local band dedicates performances several times a year to collect food and cash donations for the Food Pantry.

Spirit of America Car Show – this large, day-long outdoor show for car enthusiasts showcases hundreds of classic cars, including originals from popular movies and television shows. Proceeds from the show benefit the Orland Township Food Pantry.

Additionally, the Food Pantry regularly partners with local organizations and businesses for donation drives to help keep our shelves stocked all year long. Please click on the following links for more information on these current donation opportunities:
