The Orland Township Food Pantry holds several annual donation drives for residents in need. These drives, aimed at brightening annual holidays and events for children and families in need, rely on the generous donations and volunteer efforts of our community.
Information on the annual drives, including donation needs and recipient guidelines, is available in the Food Pantry approximately one month prior to the holiday distribution date. The annual drives are:
Spring Basket Drive – students can earn community service hours by creating and donating Spring holiday baskets that will be distributed to children from low-income households.
Back to School Supply Drive – students, kindergarten through high school, are provided with age appropriate backpacks full of school supplies
Thanksgiving Dinner Drive – low income families receive food items to prepare a Thanksgiving dinner.
Holiday Program – the Township’s Holiday Program brings joy to nearly 200 families every year by supplying holiday gifts and dinner items. To donate to the Holiday Program, residents can choose a tag from the Giving Tree to provide gifts to a child; adopt an entire family, providing gifts for that family; donate food that will be used to provide all the fixings for a holiday dinner; and / or donate toys, new clothing and other gift items that will be distributed to families in need.
