Orland Township’s 10th annual pet fair and fundraiser, Pet-Palooza, attracted nearly 2,000 guests this September. With live entertainment, such as musician Erik Donner and professional reptile educators Crosstown Exotics, free food samples, the ever so popular Kids Zone, and 30 different vendors present, there was something for everyone to enjoy.
Pet-Palooza’s partnership with local animal rescue organizations is vital to the event’s mission. Animal Welfare League, Cache Creek Rescue, Feline Fine Cat Rescue, Half-Way Home Animal Rescue (Illinois), One Goal Animal Foundation, Paws Up 4 Rescue , South Suburban Humane Society, St. Sophia’s Forgotten Felines, Traveling Tails Dog Rescue were among the many participants of the 2022 event.
“Holding our 10th annual Pet-Palooza is a major accomplishment,” said Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady. “It shows how much our community will come out, time after time, to support a greater cause. We’re aware many of our residents family pets that mean the world to them. That’s why we’ll continue to do everything we can to support them, whether that be through our pantry or through local services at Pet-Palooza.”
Before the day came to an end, pets and their owners flocked to the main tent to participate in the events most long-awaited experience: the pet contests. Over 60 pups showed up to compete in the six categories: Best Voice, Best Dressed, Best Trick, Quick Sit (dog version of musical chairs), Bobbing for Hotdogs and Fast Finish (eating peanut butter off a stick). One of the many winners across the board was Tinkerbell, who won first place for her Snow White costume in ‘Best Dressed’ category. Guests enjoyed seeing all the creativity and talent amongst the contestants. The day would not be possible without the support from local sponsors. Among the many, four major organizations contributed as ‘Top Dog’ sponsors: Minnie’s Memorial Fund at P.A.W.S., Vet Tech Institute at Fox College, Pet Supplies Plus of Orland Park, and Lou Malnati’s of Tinley Park.

He also loves spending time with his best friend, Snickers. His family adopted him from Midwest Animal Hospital about a year ago. We’re told they took the BEST care of him when he came in as a stray! Copper is an American Pitbull Terrier, and is noted as the sweetest family dog by his furever home.
